Self Build, Rutland

Project overview

Product Required:  Drystone Walling & Copings

Location: Rutland

Project: Self Build

This was an extensive self-build project in Hambleton, Rutland. For this project the client engaged a landscaping contractor with whom we met to discuss the scale and requirements of the scheme.

Our Drystone Walling was selected to match the local Rutland countryside and our Clipsham Member stone was used for the Ha-Ha steps and cappings. The steps were lightly bush-hammered to achieve a subtle “distressed” effect.

Self Build, Lincolnshire

Project overview

Product Required:  Ragstone

Location: Lincolnshire

Project: Self Build

The client was undertaking a self-build project having acquired an infill building plot in a local village conservation area. The neighbouring period properties were all built of random Limestone being laid to course with Ashlar dressings. For this project the client had engaged a building firm with traditional skills and wanted the building stone to be of a matching format.

Our Ragstone was selected using a complete mix of colours as being most appropriate for this project. Ragstone with its natural irregular course heights and varying thickness of mortar joints creates a very traditional and pleasing yet informal appearance. The masonry dressings, window heads, cills and quoins were all produced from Clipsham Member.

Private Developer, Lincolnshire

Project overview

Product Required:  Split Face Walling

Location: Lincolnshire

Project: Small Development

This site was acquired by a small private developer. It had road frontage on a narrow parcel of land within the shadow of the village church, which is a sensitive area of this popular village.

This project was a development of 14 split terraced properties.

We supplied our popular Split Faced Walling Stone in all four of the common sizes (65mm, 90mm, 115mm & 140mm)

We used a blend of colours to suit the developers requirements. We processed and tumbled a mix of our Ponton Hardwhite and Clipsham member with randomly interspersed stone processed from our Weatherbed to achieve a very pleasing aged and multi-toned effect.

Self Build, Lincolnshire

Project overview

Product Required:  Split Face Walling

Location: Lincolnshire

Project: Self Build

This was a self build project within a conservation area that involved the complete renovation of a late Georgian early Victorian former farm house together with a sizeable extension.

The original fabric of the farmhouse was in very good condition apart from the need for some replacement stone window cills which we produced using our Clipsham Member Stone.

For the extension, we supplied our Split Face Walling stone using a 50/50 blend of our Ponton Hardwhite and Clipsham Member Stone to achieve a warm and subtle toning effect.

Again the masonry dressings were produced from Clipsham Member as were the cropped quoins, a subtle touch but one that highlights the clients attention to detail throughout this extension project.

Project overview

Product Required:  Split Face Walling

Location: Lincoln

Project: Small Development

The Private Developer had acquired this brownfield site; a compact parcel of land within a sensitive area of this popular village on the outskirts of Lincoln.

This project was a development of cottage style terraced properties.

We supplied our Split Faced Walling Stone in all four of the common sizes (65mm. 90mm, 115mm & 140mm) but in a specific blend of colours.

We processed and then tumbled a mix of our different stones to achieve an aged, multi-toned effect more suited to the area.
